Premier League football is back!

OK, it might have been without a bang over the weekend, but at least last night showed that Sergio Aguero can provide some world-class football for our viewing pleasure this season.

So now the first set of fixtures are completed, many a fantasy football manager will be rueing the fact that the likes of Fernando Torres, Andy Carroll and Dimitar Berbatov failed to net some points on opening day.

But do not fear, because we have something that will never let you down on matchday!

Ever the forward thinker, Sport-locker.net are going to bring you a fresh take on the  popular football fad every week – Fantasy Football Boots has arrived readers!

Each week, we will keep a running table of which boots are scoring the most goals and which are making the most assists as well as collating the two to reveal the Premier League’s most prolific and most creative football boot.

Three points will be rewarded for each goal scored while there is one on offer for every assist.

After a somewhat subdued opening weekend of Premier League action the early pace has been set by the adidas F50 adiZero that, thanks to the exploits of Ashley Young, Ivan Klasnic, Luis Suarez and David Silva the super light boots have notched up a whopping 13 points, comfortably securing top spot.

In at two in the league table on ten points is perhaps something a surprise entry.

The Puma V1.11 certainly catches the eye for its aesthetic value but thanks to Sport-locker.net’s new competition there is more than a little substance to back up all that style. Sergio Aguero’s breathtaking debut was not only a gift for Manchester City fans but the Puma  V1.11 too.

Two goals and an assist mean big points and there was the added bonus of a Shane Long strike to boot.

There were solid starts for both adidas’ Predator (eight points) and Nike’s CTR 360 Maestri II
(seven) with Ben Watson (1 goal), Mauro Formica (1 goal), Charlie Adam (1 assist) and Jason

Roberts (1 assist) doing the business for the Predator and Sebastian Larsson (1 goal), Stephen Ward (1 goal) and Micah Richards (1 assist) coming up trumps for the Maestri.

Bolton’s Gary Cahill may be in demand for his defensive capabilities but it was his attacking prowess that caught the eye this weekend with a wonder strike to open the scoring in a 4-0 thumping of Queens Park Rangers.

Having worn Umbro Geometras for much of pre-season, Cahill reverted back to the tried and tested Stealth II for the curtain raiser. Add ‘wise decision maker’ to a growing list selling points.

Find out how all the other boots fared on the opening weekend with the first Sport-locker.net Fantasy Football Boots League Table.
