Sport-locker.net helps you gear up for a potential Carling Cup giant killing as Aldershot Town prepare to take on the mighty Manchester United.

We caught up with with ‘Shots duo Ben Herd and Danny Hylton who got their hands on the trophy in preparation for the biggest game of their season.

What would it mean to you to beat United at home in front of your fans?

Ben Herd: it would be stuff dreams are made of, it would be by far the biggest achievement of my career and probably forever really, so it would be a momentous night and achievement if it was to happen.

Danny Hylton: it would be the biggest day of my career; it would be an unbelievable feeling for the fans, myself, my family.

Top goalscorer this season, how much would it mean to you to score the winner verses United?

Danny Hylton: again, scoring against Manchester United would be an unbelievable feeling, it’s indescribable.

How do you feel going into the game?

Ben Herd: Yeah we feel confident, it’s a one off, and there is no point getting drawn against United and not enjoying it, you have to revel in the fact that Manchester United are one of the best teams in the world, and whoever they put out we are going to enjoy it and who knows what could happen.

Danny Hylton: Confident, we’ll be going into the game believing we can win its 11 against 11 and on the day if we turn up and we want it more then I’m sure we can win it

Who are you most looking forward to playing against?

Ben Herd: I would love to play against Ashley Young as I was at Watford with him from the age of 8 -20, but I don’t think he would play – but that would be the one,

Danny Hylton: Probably someone like Michael Owen, [not Rooney?] ah yeah but he’s not going to play, but Michael Owen realistically.

And if he does play, you think you know how he plays?

Ben Herd: I’m not saying that, as he would probably torture me these days as he has got a lot better, but that would be the dream.

Which player will you be trying to swap shirts with post-match?

Ben Herd: To be honest, any of them really, they are all legends – Giggs, Michael Owen, Berbatov, Youngy if he plays…

Danny Hylton: Michael Owen, [childhood?] yeah grew up watching him when I was a little kid.

What would it mean to the fans for you to beat united?

Ben Herd: It would be a fairy tale really, a little club like ours, you look around its not old Trafford is it, it means everything to them – it would be like a dream come true  

Danny Hylton: It would give them bragging rights over Manchester united, they support the club, and they wait all their whole lives for a game like this so I’m sure it would be the icing on the cake for a lot of them

Are there any United fans amongst the team?

Ben Herd: There are a few that say they are but when you’re from down this way you can’t really support United. Peter Vincenti recons he supports Man Utd but he two’s and sways between United and Southampton, so we will give him a bit of stick.

Danny Hylton: I think there’s a few, yeah, there’s a few boys from Manchester and I’m sure there’s a few Manchester united supporters but Manchester united supporter or not it’s going to be an unbelievable game against players you’ve grown up watching whoever plays for them it’s going to be amazing.
