With qualification for Euro 2012 one round of matches away from being sorted, manufacturers will soon be unveiling kits for the tournament next summer.
And today, Sport-locker.net can bring you imagery and info for the new Poland kit – ‘the most environmentally-friendly in football history!’
That’s because each shirt and short is made from 100% recycled polyester which equates to approximately thirteen recycled plastic bottles – about eight bottles for the jersey and about five bottles for the short.
The new kit was unveiled by the full 22 man squad at Wroclaw stadium ahead of their friendly with Italy last week.
The jersey design was inspired by the Polish flag – Poland’s most universal and respected national symbol.
“The new jersey represents our flag and our pride to play for the White and Red. This will be the most important year in Polish football history, so the jersey will be remembered for a years to come. We will fight to play best that we can,” said Jakub Błaszczykowski, captain of Polish National Team.
Produced from lightweight fabric called Atom, the jersey weighs only 149 grams, making it the lightest kit Nike has designed to date. It is also 110% stronger and has more breathability. Additional DriRelease cotton yarns give superior comfort and increased the moisture management.
A newer slim fit helps prevent opposition players grabbing the shirt during the game and strategically placed ventilation zones enhance breathability as air can now pass across a player’s whole torso, keeping him cooler.
The shorts have a simple, slightly extended fit. They also have special ventilation holes below the waistband and near the base of the spine to help players stay cooler.
The kit embraces Nike’s commitment to creating product for maximum performance with minimal environmental impact and is made from a micro-fibre polyester that is derived entirely from recycled plastic bottles.
The manufacturing of recycled polyester reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester. Thanks to this technology Nike diverted the equivalent of 285 million plastic bottles from landfill by using recycled polyester in its products last year.
The new Poland home kit was worn for the first time in a friendly game against Italy last Friday. The kits come in two colour combinations: white-red (home kit) and red-white (away kit). Fans can purchase the new Poland National kits from 01 December.
