Sport-locker.net is turning into a bit of a shrine to Lionel Messi this week – but this is for good reason.
Leo Messi’s place at the pinnacle of world football was confirmed last Monday after the Barcelona and Argentina legend won his third consecutive Ballon d’Or.
Yesterday, we brought you this personal video that Messi posted on his Facebook profile – and it has already been viewed by well over 1.5 million fans!
And we’re sure that those eagle-eyed amongst you spotted that Messi was wearing a specially designed golden version of his adizero F50 shoes during yesterday’s Copa del Rey match against Osasuna – it was only right that we brought you exclusive imagery!
Adidas has designed the boots especially to celebrate Leo’s third consecutive FIFA Ballon d’Or trophy. Messi will also wear his celebratory golden F50 boots for Sunday’s home game against Betis.
The special edition boots include the new Leo Messi logo as well as three Golden ball in each of the three adidas stripes, with the years 2009, 2010 and 2011.
There’s also an Argentinean flag on the heel counter of the boot, whilst the message “GRACIAS A TODOS” is a clear thank you message to his fans, team-mates and family.
We were also interested to find out that Leo wears a size UK8 – there’s something that you may not have known!
These specific golden boots have just been produced for Leo and are not made available in retail. However you can create your own gold adizero F50 boots through mi-adidas: http://shop.adidas.de/miadidas/Main.action.
To celebrate Leo’s win, www.FIFA.com and a few key football blogs have teamed up with adidas to give away a limited amount of gold adizero F50 boots. Please visit http://www.facebook.com/adidasfootball for more information on these competitions.
