Sport-locker.net get first look at adidas’ Spring/Summer 2012 collections

Here at Sport-locker.net, we love getting invited to exclusive events.

So you can imagine how buzzing we were when our writer Chaz Barry was asked to grab a sneak peak at adidas’ new Spring/Summer 2012 collections at their showrooms in London’s Covent Garden!

With the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, he got to check out all the exciting new ranges which means new boots, new kits, new Adidas fashion releases and much more.

And here is take on the new collections set for release next year:

One of the biggest attractions that Adidas were evidently very keen to show off was the expansion of the miCoach range.

We covered the revolutionary announcement of the f50 adiZero miCoach and were very impressed with the first ‘boot with a brain’. Boasting the ability track, monitor and fine-tune the aspects of your game, Adidas are hoping to do for football what Nike+ did for running.

If you’re like myself and can’t decide whether that big bowl of pasta is better the night before a game, or the usual curry and a few beers, then this new technology will settle the score with a detailed break-down of your speed, work rate and distance covered.

Alternatively you can also compare your stats with your teammates or even Lionel Messi, who was sporting the new boots in his recent match for Argentina.

Expected to launch next month Adidas are releasing two new f50 adiZero colours continuing the current high-end theme of brighter the better: orange/black/yellow and orange/blue/white (which we can’t show you photos of yet unfortunately) – anything to aid getting noticed by that scout/help see your feet if you’ve had a few the night before.

But it’s always nice to get hands on with boots before they are released and both the new adiPower predator colourway and new miCoach adizero looked really impressive.

Adidas also announced that the miCoach technology is being expanded into their Basketball, Running and Tennis footwear launching in time for the Olympic build-up early 2012.

We got a close look at each of these new releases and were particularly impressed with their adiZero running shoe. As you can guess, they are incredibly light much like their football boot cousin, and had much of the same wow factor the first time we tried them on.

Stella McCartney has teamed up with Adidas to produce a wide range of ladies active-wear influenced by the Olympics. Each piece is subtly branded combining Stella McCartney’s fashion style and Adidas’ performance technology.

The range incorporates tennis, yogo, running, swimwear and a waterproof ipad case. The Stella tennis tops also integrates the miCoach sensor which records your heart rate amongst other fitness statistics; possibly showing a direction for high-tech clothing in other sports – darts maybe?! No – maybe not then…

High street fashion is clearly a big focus for Adidas next year. From the cool retro Adidas Originals collection, to the subtlety branded stylish jackets and checkered shirts, to the clearly branded (we love/live in/went to) London track-jackets and bottoms, to the red/white/blue themed Y-3, to the serious high-end Adidas SLVR, to the alternative and somewhat wacky gorilla shoes. Basically, there’s something for everyone!

Now it’s time to get saving – there’s plenty of gear I’ve got my eye on…
