With Christine Ohuruogu and Jodie Williams heading to Zurich with Commonwealth Games medals to their names and Desire Henry making her senior team debut there was plenty of excitement amongst the three, Sport-locker.net can reveal.
The trio have been trialling and modelling the new adidas Energy BOOST running shoe for women, featuring unrivalled responsiveness with heel to toe BOOST foam that stores and returns energy to ensure you get more with every step.
Commenting on the new footwear, rising star Jodie Williams says: “The adidas Energy BOOST feel like pillows on my feet.”
Olympic gold and silver medallist Christine Ohuruogu says: “I appreciate the fact that they are lightweight, as an athlete you don’t want heavy footwear weighing you down -you’re having to work hard enough as it is, without having to lift extra weight on your feet!”
Desiree Henry, ahead of competing at her first senior Championships, highlights the importance of lightweight, comfortable running footwear, saying: “The adidas Energy BOOST are just so comfortable. I’ve run in them and I don’t feel the tightness in my feet that I get from some other footwear.”
In an exclusive interview for adidas, the top British athletes share their thoughts on what motivates them to run and their hopes for this week’s European Championships. Ahead of the 200 metre heat on Thursday, Jodie Williams is in a positive frame of mind, saying: “I’m feeling confident. I think I’m going in ranked second so it would be amazing to come away with another medal.”
Ahead of 18 year old Desiree Henry’s personal best in the 100 metre heat that secured her place in the final she talks about the changes she’s faced this year: “This year has been quite a different year for me, it’s my last as a junior and I’ve got a new coach so I’m currently adjusting to the changes in my training regime.”
The current 400 metre World Champion Christine Ohuruogu, who boasts two world titles as well as Olympic gold and silver medals, is approaching the European Championships with a winner’s ambition.
She says: “Every championship I go to I’m a fighter and no matter what it takes, I always make sure I do my best.”
The new adidas Energy BOOST is available at adidas Sport Performance stores, select retailers and through e-commerce at www.adidas.co.uk/boost and will set you back £120.
