AS Roma is a club renowned for its storied and illustrious history, yet the 2015-16 season sees the Italian club entering an exciting new era.

For the upcoming season, AS Roma will play in a striking new kit by Nike that reflects the club’s growing confidence, as well as the respect that the team inspires in their rivals.

Taking inspiration from the armor worn by Roman soldiers, the new home kit is designed to create a powerful look on the pitch. The team will emerge from the tunnel dressed for battle, ready to perform as a legion and illustrate the strength rooted in their commitment to the collective.

The shirt is in classic AS Roma red and features a unique new crewneck collar with a small split at the front. This replicates the neckline on the iron chest armor worn by soldiers in the Roman army more than 2,000 years ago.

A darker shade of red runs along the shoulder blades and sleeves in a single panel, further enhancing the players’ physical presence.

Complementing the AS Roma red, the sleeves’ cuffs are in the club’s traditional yellow, which features stripes running down the shirt’s flanks.

The new white shorts include a yellow stripe on each side that connects with the stripe on the shirt.

For the first time, the numbers on the back of the new AS Roma shirt contain a graphic print tribute to the Italian capital’s heralded architectural wonders, ancient streets and vibrant neighborhoods, illustrating the strong bond between the club, the city and the fans.

The new home socks are entirely red with a wide tonal stripe of chevrons on the back of the calf.

The AS Roma home kit is available for pre-sale via the Nike Football App and ASRoma.it from June 9th, and on sale from nike.com and Nike and AS Roma official retailers from June 11th.

While this new kit represents a proud symbol of the club, it offers players the very latest in Nike performance innovation, fabric technology, moisture management and environmental sustainability.

NIKE DRI-FIT TECHNOLOGY

Nike Dri-FIT technology draws sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts where it quickly evaporates. This allows players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier and more comfortable.

The laser-cut ventilation holes and mesh panels in key areas of the kit are designed to improve performance by increasing air circulation to the players’ bodies and helping regulate their temperatures.

The jersey is crafted using an engineered mesh fabric – this is used in both the shirt’s front and back panels to increase airflow and facilitate enhanced movement.

SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Nike places sustainable innovation at the heart of its kits through the use of recycled polyester, delivering unrivalled performance and lower environmental impact.

Each piece of the kit – the shirt, shorts and socks – is constructed with recycled polyester, which is made from recycled plastic bottles that are melted down to produce fine yarn used to create the fabric.

Each kit is made using an average of 18 recycled plastic bottles. Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 2 billion plastic bottles from landfills into recycled polyester – enough to cover about 3,500 football pitches.

By using recycled polyester, Nike is also reducing the energy consumed in the manufacturing process by up to 30 percent compared to virgin polyester. For more information, visitnikebetterworld.com.
