Premier League Fantasy Football Boots 2011/12: Week 2

Week two has been and gone in the Premier League and the dark days of football starved summer are long gone!

The two Manchester sides sit top of the table and are joined by Wolverhampton Wanderers of all teams who must be struggling with altitude sickness after a day at the summit.

Elsewhere, QPR recorded their first Premier League victory while Spurs sit rock bottom after capitulating at Old Trafford and let’s not even get started on the very public breakdown at Arsenal!

Anyway enough of all that. It’s time to hand over to big news of the weekend. Which football boots performed best?

As a little reminder for you…

Each week, will keep a running table of which boots are scoring the most goals and which are making the most assists as well as collating the two to reveal the Premier League’s most prolific and most creative football boot.

Three points will be rewarded for each goal scored while there is one on offer for every assist.

Let’s begin with the weekend’s top scorer, and for a second week in a row that honourable title goes to the adidas F50 adiZero that, once again has been served well by last week’s terrific trio Ivan Klasnic, Luis Suarez and David Silva who all featured on their respective scoresheets.

Add to that, a goal from Nicolas Anelka and an assist from Martin Petrov and the super-light boots notched up another 13 points to increase its lead at the top.

The most improved award goes to the Nike Tiempo who awoke from its opening weekend slumber to rack up four goals (Danny Welbeck, Matt Jarvis, Emile Heskey and Kenwyne Jones) and three assists (Welbeck, Jarvis, Raul Meireles) to make a grand season total of 16 points and surge into second place in the table.

Shane Long was at it again against the Premier League giants to keep the Puma V1.11 ticking along nicely while its close relative the Puma King Finale, bagged one goal (Kevin Doyle) and one assist (Paul Robinson).

Good to see some new faces on the Fantasy Football table. Umbro’s Geometra (recently play tested by got their campaign up and running with a well taken strike from Tommy Smith that clinched victory at Goodison Park for the Championship title holders.

The evergreen Ryan Giggs played up to that label in more ways than one when he stepped off the substitutes’ bench at Old Trafford on Monday night to tee up Wayne Rooney wearing a gleaming green pair Instante II Pro.

They should perhaps consider renaming Bolton’s Reebok Stadium after adidas swept the scoreboard clear in City’s 3-2 victory.

Gareth Barry, Kevin Davies and Edin Dzeko registered for adiPURE while Silva and Klasnic netted in their adiZeros.

Find out how all the other boots are faring with the Fantasy Football Boots League Table.
