Adidas unveil ‘Virtual Footwear Wall’ – the future of interactive retail shopping

With the new adidas F50 adiZero miCoach football boot set for release next month, adidas have decided to install the world’s first Virtual Footwear Wall (VFW) at their flagship store in London’s Oxford Street to celebrate!

The VFW uses state of the art touch-screen and precision real-time 3D rendered products allowing customers to select footwear on a virtual shelf.

The wall is fully interactive allowing you to rotate and look at the product from multiple angles, zoom in to see the finest detail and get additional product information as well as watching supporting video material.

And Sport-locker.net  can bring you this video to help you visualize the above:

So as you can see, the installation will allow consumers to pre-order the new footwear via a fully immersive experience.

The VFW is now available for customers to use from today (Sunday 30th October) in adidas’ flagship London store at 415-419 Oxford Street, where they can pre-order the hugely anticipated F50 adiZero football boot featuring miCoach, as worn by Lionel Messi.

Shoppers can complete their pre-order registration of the new boots by using a tablet manned by a sales assistant, arranging delivery to their home, or picking up their chosen product at the checkout at launch in mid-November.

The first 250 customers who pre-order in store using the Virtual Footwear Wall from Sunday 30th October will:

–       Get £25 off the retail price of the F50 with miCoach bundle (£200 instead of £225)

–       receive an exclusive invitation to a private event for the customer and a friend to pick up their new boots and meet a Premier League footballer

–       receive a free, limited edition ‘glowing F50 boot with miCoach’ memento

–       Have the chance to win an iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 or an iPod Touch

The VFW demonstrates adidas and Intel’s shared vision of a ‘connected retail world’ – offering customers an enhanced and unique shopping experience by providing more choice and information on the entire adidas product range – even if the products are not available in store. adidas plans to roll the technology out in its stores globally from next year and the technology will continue to evolve.

If you do get down to the event today, please let us know your thoughts via the comments section below or on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

Stay tuned to the Sport-locker.net over the next few days, as we get a hands-on experience with the VFW!

Wow! How many choices could one possibly have when pre-ordering one modle of shoe? What advantage does this have over pre-ordering online?

Hey John, thanks for getting in touch. For the two week trial you can pre-order two colours of the f50 adizero miCoach, in both leather and synthetic and soft and firm ground studs. They’re planning to add more shoes at a later date.
The advantage of the wall is that you get a fully interactive 3D view of the boot, alongside a load of info about the boot. And it’s pretty fun too! We were at the opening and had a go. We wll be putting the revew up very soon! Hope that helps….
