The Chance 2012: Global Finals Day 3 bring you an update from Day 3 at the global finals of Nike’s The Chance campaign…

It may have been a rest day from training and the competition but The Chance is also about building bonds between the finalists from different countries.

Day 3 was an opportunity to see Barcelona whilst also taking part in a treasure hunt around this beautiful city.

Split into groups, the guys made their way around Barcelona facing challenges and looking for clues. At the Nike Store in the centre of town, they were asked to find – among the products – a CTR360 football boot signed by the FC Barcelona star Andres Iniesta.

Other tasks included gathering members of the public for a photo around the iconic drinking fountain Canaletas (made famous by celebratory FC Barcelona fans) on Las Ramblas, a trip to a photo studio for a fashion-shoot, and a visit to a cookery school to make traditional Catalan omelettes. “I loved being in the kitchen this morning,” said Wallace Camilo of Brazil. “My omelette was really tasty. I am very proud of my cooking.”

Each of the boys also had caricatures drawn of them, enjoyed a trip to the famous Sagrada Familia and rounded off their morning with a high-speed boat trip along the city’s stunning coastline.

“Today was a lot of fun”, said Teboho Charlie Tsotetsi of South Africa. “We are all becoming very good friends and to get the chance to see the city was such a great experience. My favourite moment was the boat trip. This was the first time in my life I have been on a boat.”

For two of the finalists, the fun didn’t stop there. After lunch, head coach Jimmy Gilligan announced that the two best players at yesterday’s training were in for a surprise and so 17-year-old Ismail H’Maidat of Belgium and 18-year-old Russian finalist Kiril Laptev were whisked away for a once in a lifetime helicopter trip to get an unbelievable aerial perspective of the fantastic city.
