Sport-locker.net bring you something for those fashionistas (who like baseball and graffiti) this afternoon…
MLB (Major League Baseball), the quintessential American sports league brand, is teaming up with Inkie, legendary UK graffiti artist and an inimitable figure on Europe’s creative scene.
Inkie will weave bespoke designs into a number of MLB products including jackets, baseballs, bats, baseball caps and MLB’s newly launched footwear collection.
“I’m thrilled to be involved in MLB’s 2013 Bread and Butter show and can’t wait to get out to Berlin to bring a taste of the UK’s street art scene to the stand – it’s gonna be huge!” Inkie commented ahead of the tradeshow which took place earlier this month.
Mirroring the craftsmanship and pioneering spirit of the MLB brand, Inkie’s roots lie in the vibrant UK graffiti scene of the early eighties, spearheading Bristol street art culture alongside the likes of Felix Braun, Massive Attack’s 3D and Banksy.
Having curated the latter’s ‘Walls On Fire’ event and gone on to work in design for the likes of Sega and Xbox, Inkie has also been responsible for organizing ‘See No Evil’ – the world’s largest street festival – and has a legion of influential fans across the globe including Roots Manuva and Robbie Williams.
MLB takes the game of baseball from the field to the streets, giving its European consumers the opportunity to interact with US pop culture.
The brand is embraced by a plethora of music and media icons across the world. The brand’s iconic marks are seen around the world and transcend the game and its history to become a true American classic.
