Since the launch of Lunarlon cushioning six years ago, this hugely popular cushioning technology has been adopted across eight different styles and categories.
And Sport-locker.net are big fans of the LunarGlide series, having reviewed the 3, 4 and 5 models…
Now, the Nike LunarGlide 6 debuts with a lighter version of Lunarlon foam, a redesigned outsole pattern, enhanced Dynamic Support stability and an all-new engineered upper.
Runners’ insights helped inform the new shoe, which includes an outsole pattern created to mimic the way a runner’s foot moves dynamically from landing to take-off.
To enhance stability, designers first increased the angle of Dynamic Support technology, the two-part midsole system introduced in the original LunarGlide in 2009 to provide runners both cushioning and stability.
Whereas traditional stability shoes have a medial post, the LunarGlide’s Dynamic Support uses opposing wedges of foam with different densities to offer a smooth, stable transition.
More stability was added in the upper, engineered with soft foam and breathable, lightweight mesh that conforms to the foot.
As the team strived to remove as much material as possible to deliver lightweight comfort and enhance natural motion, a beautiful and breathable graphic pattern emerged. Nike Flywire integrates with the upper to hug the foot for an adaptive fit, and a supportive heel clip provides snug, comfortable lockdown.
GLIDE ON LUNARLON, NOW EVEN LIGHTER
The Nike LunarGlide 6 features a lighter Lunarlon foam for super soft, lightweight and responsive cushioning. Lunarlon debuted in the Nike Lunaracer for world-class marathon runners and the Nike Hyperdunk for elite athletes competing in Beijing in 2008.
The original LunarGlide followed shortly after, giving every runner access to Lunarlon technology. Ever since, everyday and elite runners alike glide through the miles cushioned by the lightweight, soft and responsive foam.
Designing for performance defined the style of the LunarGlide 6. Inspired by modern architecture and clean, minimalistic design, Williams’s team explored colour blocking and patterns.
NIKEID OPTIONS
Style can be deeply personal, perhaps as personal as the country for which fans choose to cheer. As the world turns towards epic football matches, starting today runners can customize their footwear in team colours to match their national pride.
#RUNTHEGAME WITH NIKE+
Nike+ Running is challenging runners to compete in the “Run the Game” campaign. To participate, runners simply log their miles using Nike+ and put them towards the country of their choice.
By syncing with Nike+ runners can log their kilometres ran towards the country of their choice to participate in the challenge. Runners can use the hashtag #RUNTHEGAME to share their runs in support of their favourite country.
The challenge runs through July 12, when the country with the most kilometres logged will be able to claim bragging rights and victory.
The LunarGlide 6 is available starting today to customize exclusively through NIKEiD, and will be in stores and on www.nike.com beginning July 10.
